The Life of THOMAS ROBERT SORENSEN

Thomas R. Sorensen, 75, of the 3800 block of Sherman Blvd died of pancreatic cancer Sunday at Mercy Medical Ceneter.  Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Westover Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Sorensen was born in Guthrie Center and had lived in Des Moines since 1955.  He had worked for Northwester Bell Telephone before retiring and was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Za-Ga-Zig Shrine.  He was known for his humor and enjoyed spending time with his friends.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; a son, Andrew of Iowa City; a daughter, Lorie Christensen of Durham, NC; a sister, Dorothy Davis of Guthrie Center; four grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to Guide Dogs for the Blind.
