The Life of ROBERT EUGENE VAN HOUTEN
Robert Eugene Van Houten, 67, of the 6900 block of Northeast 56th Street, Altoona, died Tuesday at rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN of complications following surgery. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hamilton''s near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Van Houten was born in Des Moines, where he had lived until moving to Altoona in 1967. He was a retired electronic technician with Firestone Tire and Rubber Co., and a Navy and Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Local Union Retiree''s Club and enjoyed electronics and traveling.
He is surivved by his wife, Jerry; a son, Don, and two daughters, Debbie Carter and Bobbie Pruismann, all of Altoona; two sisters, Edna May Hunt of Colorado Springs, CO, and Christi Wensel of Des Moines; four brothers, Bud, Chuck and Jim, all of Des Moines, and Dick of Dallas, TX; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 today at the funeral home.
