The Life of CHESTER E TURPEN

Chester E. Turpen, 73, of 1445 W. First St. Ankeny, died of a hemorrhage Tuesday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Merle Hay Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Turpen was born in Davis City and  had lived in Des Moines most of his life. He trtired in 1976 after 31 years at Firestone Tire and Rubber Co., and he was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Ankeny and Firestone Retirees' Association. Survivors include a son, Robert of Great Falls, Mont.; two daughters, Nova Kain of Beloit, Wis., and Jancie Veach of Des Moines; a sister, Dorothy Shull of Lockwood, Calif.; six grandchildren; and two great-granchildren. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
