The Life of HARRY A THACKER

Harry A. Thacker, 83, of 713 SE Dunham Ave., died Tuesday at home of arteriosclerosis.  Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hamilton''s Funeral Home, and burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens.

Born in Kansas, Mr. Thacker had lived in Des Moines for 65 years and was a retired tile setter for Des Moines Tile and Mantle.  He was a World War I veteran and a member of Baldwin Patterson American Legion Post, and Brick Layers Local 2.

Survivors include his wife, Leota; three sons, Harry,Jr., Alfred and Phillip, all of Des Moines; six daughters, Barbara Bruntmyer, Carol Holt and Elaine Delmerge, all of Minneapolis, MN, Phyllis Shearer of McAllen, TX, and JoAnne Thacker and Sharon Shoemaker, both of Des Moines; three brothers, Earl of Chicago, IL, Wilmer of Des Moines and Edgar of Ankeny; three sisters, Beatrice Edwards and Madrid Maxwell, both of Vienta, OK, and Mary Myatt of Chicago; 24 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

The family suggets that any memorial contributions be made to Jordan United Methodist Church.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. today at the funeral home.
