The Life of STEPHEN LAMAR WASHINGTON
Stephen L. Washington, 43, of Indianola died of cancer Tuesday at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Services will be at noon today at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Des Moines, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Washington had lived in Cedar Rapids all his life before moving to the Des Moines area last year. He was a city bus driver in Cedar Rapids and most recently was a machinist there.
He is survived by a daughter, Shawna Smyth, and two sons, Josh Smyth and Jason Smyth, all of Des Moines; his stepmother, Donna Mae Washington of Panama City, FL; three brothers, Hezekiah of Chandler, AZ, Don of St. Paul, MN, and Shannon of Panama City; five sisters, Myrtle Ligons of Glendale, AZ, Cynthia Washington and Stefana Washington, both of Panama City, Margaret Brown of Tallahassee, FL, and Dienice Mackey of Atlanta; two stepsisters, Jacquline Washington of San Bernadino, CA and Elizabeth Norris of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren.
