The Life of JOHN WILLIAM TOOMER
John W. Toomer, 61, of Augusta, KS, died of cancer on Saturday, March 29, 2003 at his sister''s home in Des Moines. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Hamilton''s Southtown Funeral Home.
John was born in Des Moines and had lived the last 30 years in Kansas. He had served in the Army from 1960-1962. He enjoyed horses and fixing things around the house.
He is survived by his son, Chuck of Windsor Heights; his sisters, Deb McCrae of Des Moines and Nancy Blakeslee of Afton, IA; and his grandchildren, Samantha and Michael Toomer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anita and Charles Toomer Sr.; his brother, Charles Toomer Jr.; and his sister, Sandra Jacobs.
The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa.
