The Life of MARGARET IRENE STILES PETERSON
Margaret Irene Stiles Peterson, formerly of Kentucky Ridge, Mason City, IA, died Sunday, June 13, 2004 at Hospice of North Iowa, Mason City.
Services will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at 10 a.m. at St. John''s Episcopal Church with, Rev. Dr. John "Jack" Gannett and Rev. Warren Frelund, officiating. Interment will take place at 2 p.m., Wednesday in Highland Memory Gardens, Des Moines.
Margaret Irene (Stiles) Peterson was born August 6, 1916 in Des Moines, IA, the daughter of Melvin Boyd and Margaret Pauline (Carmichael) Stiles. She attended Oak Park Elementary School, Harding Junior High, and graduated from North High School. She graduated from Drake University with BA and MA degrees in Biology. She had further education at University of Iowa; Iowa State University; University of Northern Iowa; University of Michigan; Colorado State University and St. Lawrence University.
Margaret married Harold S. Peterson of Fort Dodge, IA at St. Paul''s Episcopal Church, Des Moines, July 17, 1945.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Margaret Pauline (Polly) and son-in-law, Steven C. Sears of Des Moine s, IA; two grandsons, Craig S. Sears of Woodward, IA and Paul R,. Sears of Denver, CO; sister, Barbara Kent and husband Millard of Shoreview, MN; nieces, Ann Dobon and husband Miguel of Coon Rapids, MN; Susan and the Rev. Andris Sedlins of Plymouth, MN; and Barbara Dewey and husband Bill of Knoxville, TN; four great nieces, and two great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold S., in November 1995; her parents; and a brother in infancy.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue.
Memorials may be given to the St. John''s Episcopal Church Fund of Remembrance or to the NIACC Foundation.
