The Life of GLEN ALBERT DEAL

Glen Albert Deal Two and one-half weeks after a successful cancer surgery on January 20, Glen was in heaven with his Lord. His death on Sunday evening, February 6, was the result of severe pneumonia. Glen Albert Deal was born to his parents, Arthur and Leona Deal, on Saturday, November 10, 1906, in Des Moines, Iowa. He lived all his life in Iowa, having been educated here and having been employed for 45 years with the Iowa Highway Commission, now designated as the Department of Transportation. At the age f 14, Glen acknowledged his need of a personal Savior and opened his heart and life to the Lord Jesus Christ. He had become a member of the Clifton Heights Presbyterian Church in Des Moines. Though he moved to other parts of the state, Glen still felt a home-tie with this church and remained on its membership rolls, loyally supporting its ministries throughout his life. He took an active part as a member of the Boone Biblical Ministries staff, especially participating in the radio division. He was a loyal and faithful husband and father, but most of all he was loyal and faithful to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He bore witness to his faith wherever opportunity presented itself, whether at work, among his friends, in his home, or in his church activities. He was unashamed to have a Bible seen on his desk at work. Is it any wonder that upon his retirement from the DOT they should honor him with a gift of a Bible? Inscribed on the flyleaf were these words, "May this be as good a helping hand in your times of need as you have been to us. From all your friends in the DOT." Glen was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Orpha, and he is survived by his wife, Lydia, one son, Richard, two sisters, Marie Riley and Leona Brose, both of Des Moines, and a number of nieces and nephews. His family, loved ones, and friends will all miss him greatly, but the parting is only temporary for those who, like Glen, know Jesus Christ as personal Savior. One day we shall all be together again -- each born again member of the Family of God -- when the Savior Himself returns to gather His children home forevermore. Glen was ushered into the presence of the Lord he loved and served on Sunday evening, February 6, shortly after 11 p.m. from his bed in the Boone County Hospital. He sojourned on this earth for 76 years, 2 months, and 27 days. But he has begun an eternity in heaven. What joy and bliss is his!
