The Life of RUSSELL H NELSON

Russell H. Nelson, 97, went to Glory Friday, September 22, 2006 at Mill Pond Retirement Home.  Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Russell was born June 10, 1909 in Centuria, Wisconsin.  He lived in St. Cloud, Minnesota, prior to residing in Des Moines.  Russ married Eunice Osgood, December 21, 1937.  Of this marriage, four children were born:  Carol, Rod, Lowell and Jody.  Russ owned Nelson Seat Cover Company.  He was an active member of Capitol City Baptist Church, until he was physically unable.  He enjoyed serving the Lord, bowling and being with family.

Those to cherish his memory are his wife, Eunice; children, Carol (Jerry) Powell, Rod (Nancy) Nelson, Lowell (Denise) Nelson, and Jody (Mike) Anderson; twelve grandchildren, Tim, Todd, Tammy, Troy, Sherre, Shelle, Matt, David, Mark, Tricia, Amy and Josh; 18 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Wesley.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Nels and Ella Nelson, and brothers, Herb and Harvey.
