The Life of JOSEPH E STOKES
Joseph E. Stokes, 95, of the 1400 block of East 12th Street died of a respiratory ailment Sunday at home. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Stokes was born in Bucklin, Kan., and had lived in Des Moines most of his life. He retired from Iowa Power and Light Co.
Surviving are a daughter, Marjorie Scott of Des Moines; a son, Jack of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; a brother, Ellis of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hamilton''s Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Make A Wish Foundation.
