The Life of GROVER L COLLINS
Grover Collins, 76, passed away of ALS/"Lou Gehrig''s disease", Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at Mercy Capitol. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2006 at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Grover was born February 18, 1930 to Roy and Evelyn (Thomas) Collins in Des Moines. He was a member of Grandview Golf Course, a 50-year-member of both the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine and Pioneer Lodge. He was a production supervisor for Lennox Heating and Cooling Industries and owner of Collins Investments. Grover enjoyed playing golf, gardening and traveling.
Grover is survived by his wife, Joanne; daughter, Susan (Jerald) Thompson; six grandchildren, Nichole, Jennifer, Kimberly, Mikel, Michael Jr., and Cameron; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Roy "Mick" (Gloria) Collins; two sisters, Sonja Fazio and Evelyn (Jim) Robinson; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Barbara L. Collins and his son, Mike Collins.
