The Life of ROBERT T LIEN

Robert T. Lien, 72, of the 4100 block of East Seventh Street died of a brain tumor Tuesday at Hospice Kavanagh House.  Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hamilton''s near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home.  Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Lien was born in Minneapolis and had lived in Des Moines most of his life.  He was a head of communications with Rock Island Railroad and had owned Bob''s Barber Shop before retiring.  He was a Navy veteran of World War II and had been a square dance and round dance caller.  He was a member of Riverfront YMCA, Order of the Eastern Star, Eastgate Masonic Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; his son, David of Bettendorf; his daughter, Shari Olson of West Des Moines; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Kavanagh House or Riverfront YMCA.
