The Life of CHARLES R THIERMAN

Charles R. Thierman, 61, of the 400 block of Columbia Street died of diabetes Saturday at Mercy Medical Center.  Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Staves United Methodist Church, of which he was a member.  Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Thierman was born in Cedar Falls and had moved to Des Moines in 1963.  He was a teacher for Des Moines public schools and had taught business education at Amos Hiatt Middle School for 32 years.  He was a member of the Des Moiens Education Association, Iowa State Education Association and National Educational Association.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; a daughter, Melissa Damman of Altoona; a sister, Nanette Sash of Cedar Falls; and four brothers, Jim and Tom, both of Cedar Falls, John of Waterloo and Richard of Waverly.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hamilton''s near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to his church.
