The Life of LOUIS B LOFTIN

Louis "Tex" Loftin, 83, of 2318 40th Place died of a heart ailment Thursday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Merle Hay Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Loftin was born in Grovetown, TX, and had lived in Des Moines more than 50 years. He was a retired bus driver and instructor for the city of Des Moines, an Army veteran of World War II and member of Acanthus Masonic Lodge, Highland Park American Legion, Beaverdale Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and MTA Transit Union. Survivors are his wife, Ethel; a son, Robert of Lancaster, PA; a duaghter, Sandra Heggen of Ames; a sister, Mae Vie Sanders of Houston, TX; and two grandchildren. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Westover Baptist Church.
