The Life of BILL DAVID DAVENPORT
Bill Davenport, 78, died of complications of pneumonia at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary and his father, Frank. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Davenport lived in Des Moines all his life. He was retired from Firestone Rubber Company, where he worked for 30 years. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. He loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; three sons, Bill (Amy), Tom (Naomi) and Johnny (Karla); his brother, Robert Cook; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton''''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for research of Parkinson''''s Disease.
