The Life of LEROY J RICKABAUGH

LeRoy J. Rickabaugh, 76, formerly of Altoona, passed away peacefully July 4 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.  Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2007 at McLaren''s Chapel in West Des Moines with burial in Highland Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at McLaren''s.

Mr. Rickabaugh was born in Des Moines, the son of Ernest and Sylvia (Beer) Rickabaugh.  He attended Elm Grove Elementary School and graduated from the Iowa School for the Deaf at Council Bluffs.  Roy worked for over 25 years at Delavan Manufacturing in West Des Moines and over 18 years at Artistic Manufacturing in Altoona as a punch press operator.  He also owned Roy''s Haul All and had many accounts in the Des Moines metro area.  He was a close captioning sign language interpreter for IPTV for over 10 years.

Survivors include his four children, Terri Davis of St. Paul, MN, Steven (Terri) Rickabaugh of Des Moines, Jeff Rickabaugh of Holt Summit, MO, and Brett (Shannon) Rickabaugh of Runnells; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Cora Myers and Alice Harris both of Des Moines, former wife, Joan Rickabaugh and his companion, Lorraine Brewer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Ella Smith and a brother Elmer Rickabaugh.

Memorials may be directed to Mercy Hospice in Leroy''s name.
