The Life of GEORGE E TOWNSEND
George E. Townsend, 94, died, Sunday, March 23, 2008 at Genesis Senior Living in Des Moines. George was born on October 14, 1913 to Willard D. and Loretta Townsend. George’s greatest love was his wonderful wife of 73 years, Evelyn. He enjoyed music and in his lifetime mastered many musical instruments, his favorite, was the piano. George served his country during WWII in the US Army Signal Corp. serving in Africa and Italy. He retired from Economy Forms in 1978, working there as a Draftsman. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, niece Delores L. (Wallace) Willits of Rossville, Kansas and a nephew, H.E. Gene Wallace of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Clarence and two sisters, Mary and Margaret. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines; burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family will visit with friends from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
