The Life of JOE W WHEATON
Joe W. Wheaton, 79, of 3637 E. Eighth St. died of a respiratory ailment Wednesday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, with memorial services at 11 a.m. at Union Park United Methodist Church, of which he was a member.
Mr. Wheaton was born in Oklahoma City and lived in Des Moines most of his life. He was a building materials salesman with Midwest Plywood and Denniston-Partridge, an Army veteran and a member of Home Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Anne; a son, Joe of Madison, WI; a daughter, Joann Schissel of Johnston; a sister, Louise Wheaton of Des Moines; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Sunday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to his church.
