The Life of SUZAN GREENLY NIXON

Suzan Greenly Nixon, 44, of the 1300 block of East 12th St. died of cancer Tuesday at Mercy Medical Center.  Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Epworth United Methodist Church, of which she was a member.  Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Greenly Nixon was born in Iowa City and had lived in Lehigh before moving to Des Moines in 1984.  She was a sales associate with Joseph''s Jewelry Store and active politically in the community.  She had served on the Neighborhood Revitalization Board, Neighborhood Development Corp. Board, Des Moines Action Board and Woodland-Wilkie Priority Board.  She was  a former president of Capitol Park Neighborhood Association and a member of Morningside Alumni Association.  She enjoyed camping.

She is survived by her husband, John Nixon; her mother, Evelyn Sanders, her father, Donald McFarland Sr., and two sons, Rick Greenly and Nick Nixon, all of Des Moines; six brothers, Donald McFarland Jr., Roger McFarland, Greg McFarland and Robert Sanders, all of Des Moines, Ronald Auten Jr. of Fort Dodge and Terry Sanders of Council Bluffs; and nine sisters, Lorra Swanson, Dawn St. John, Cheryl Sanders, Karen Sanders, Rebecca Sanders and Pam Harris, all of Des Moines, Debra Caikoski of Melcher-Dallas, Faythe Randall of Grand Ronde, OR, and Angela Krueger of Denver, CO.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hamilton''s Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
