The Life of LEO JAMES GILDEA

Jim Gildea, 77, of 214 NW Kline, Ankeny, died of a heart ailment Saturday at his home.  Services will be at 11 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Ankeny, of which he was a member.  Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Gildea was born in Winner, SD and lived in Columbus and Seward, NE, before moving to Ankeny 10 years ago.  He was a retired salesman with Ankeny Construction, a US Marine Corps veteran of World War II, and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Albaugh-McGovern American Legion and Elks Lodge, all of Ankeny.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; two sons, David of Papillion, NE, and Peter of Ankeny; six daughters, Jane Sommers of Omaha, Mary Cole of Midlothian, IL, Sarah Gildea, Rachel Gildea and Andrea Branchomb, all of Ankeny and Kathy Owings of Overland Park, KS; four sisters, Vada Gildea of Omaha, Zola Dethlefsen of Davis, CA, Mary Pat Sullivan of Las Vegas, and Cora Mather of Ralston, NE; a brother, John of Lompoc, CA; and 11 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association.  Ankeny Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
