The Life of JAMES ORR BROWN

James O. Brown, 84, of 2522 Logan Ave. died of complications of a stroke Wednesday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center.  Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hamilton''s Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Brown was born in Kirksville, Mo., and lived in Des Moines most of his life.  He was a retired truck driver with Wheeler Lumber, Army veteran of World War II and a member of St. John''s Lutheran Church, Baldwin-Patterson American Legion, Masonic Lodge and Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; a son, Jim, and a daughter, Janet Bailey, both of Des Moines; a sister, Agnes Taylor of Gary, Ind., four stepbrothers, Jim Maples of Des Moines, Don Maples of Indianola and Laville and Don Summers, both of Gary, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to his church.
