The Life of DWIGHT H HINMAN

Dwight H "Sarge" Hinman, 79, of Granger Manor, died of emphysema Saturday at University Hospials in Iowa City. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grandview Funeral Home in Des Moines. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery there.

Mr. Hinman was born in Bushnell, IL, and had lived in Des Moines most of his life. He retired in 1973 as a punch press operator for John Deere. He also retired as a master sergeant from the US Army after 20 years in service and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Cumming.

Survivors include four daughters, Theodora Beard of Runnells, Wonevia Penny and Kathryn May, both of Des Moines and Carolyn Kerby of Dexter; four sons, David and Clifford, both of Des Moines, Edward of New Brighton, MN, and Howard of Altoona; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to University Hospitals in Iowa City.
