The Life of PAUL E HOLMGREN
Services for Paul E. Holmgren of Des Moines will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Paul died Saturday, March 12, 2005 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center due to complication from Parkinson''s disease.
Paul was born in Boone on July 5, 1922, he grew up on a farm near Madrid and graduated from Iowa State University in 1949. He owned and operated Holmgren Firestone in Boone from 1950 until 1959 and Paul Holmgren Realty in Des Moines from 1959 to 1997.
He was a member of the Des Moines/Polk County Tax Review Board for 36 years. He was also a member of Westchester Evangelical Free Church, Highland Park Kiwanis Club, and Highland Park Business Club.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughter, Paula (Chuck) Silvey of Olathe, KS; son, David of Des Moines; sister, Dorothy Alexander of Lee''s Summit, MO; brother, Myron of Hurst, TX; grandson, Patrick Silvey of Prairie Village, KS, and granddaughter, Kelly Silvey of Chicago.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be given in lieu of flowers to Westchester Evangelical Free Church in Des Moines or Grace Fellowship Free Church in Overland Park, KS.
