The Life of CORA E SURLES
Cora E. Surles, 94, of the 3900 block of 53rd St died of a heart ailment Friday at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Caldwell-Raddatz Hickman Chapel in Urbandale, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Surles was born in Jefferson and had lived in Des Moines most of her life. She had worked as a department manager at Preferred Risk Insurance Co. and was a member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church. She continued to cook for her family until recently.
She s survived by a son, Robert of Polk City; a daughter Marilyn Cabbage of West Des Moines; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Iowa Heart Association.
