The Life of SHIRLEY ANN SLAYBAUGH

Shirley Ann Slaybaugh, 75, of Waukee died from complications of emphysema on Nov. 18, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. She was retired from the State of Iowa where she worked for many years. Shirley enjoyed spending time and with her six grandchildren and five great grandchildren, and her precious Yorkie, Maggie. She also enjoyed weekend shopping trips and watching “The Price is Right.” She is survived by her husband, Melvin Slaybaugh; son, Michael Breen (Mary Martin) of Elkart; daughter, Cheryl Hall (Donald) of Johnston; sisters, Doris Howard (Bud) of Des Moines and Pat Edwards (Bill) of Kingsport, TN; as well as many nieces and nephews and beloved friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Robert Robinson; brothers Robert Robinson, Jr., Charles Robinson, Richard (Lefty) Robinson; and a sister, Mary “Jane” Sales. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines, with services at Hamilton’s Funeral Home Wednesday at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Ave., Des Moines. Shirley’s emphysema resulted from many decades of cigarette smoking. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
