The Life of MYRTLE F SLATER

Myrtle F. Slater, 75, of the 1500 block of East 24th St. died of multiple myeloma Friday at home.  Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Easton Place United Methodist Church, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Slater was born in Lehigh and had lived in Des Moines 70 years.  She was a retired bookkeeper with Loziers Florist and had been active with Order of the Eastern Star and was a past worthy matron and a member of Grand Chapter.  She was a member of Ester Circle at Easton Place United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing the piano and organ.

She is survived by a daughter, Dianna M. Alshouse of Des Moines; a son, E. "Gus" Slater of Richland TX; four brothers, Merwin Hollingsworth of Plainfield, IL; Willis Hollingsworth of Little Elm, TX; Lloyd Hollingsworth of Englewood, CO; and George Hollingsworth of Des Moines; a sister, Flora Jean Vitiritto of Des Moines; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Dow "Pops" Slater.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hamilton''s Funeral Home, where an Order of the Eastern Star service will be held at 7 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
