The Life of EDWARD J SOKOLIK

Edward J. Sokolik, 82, of the 200 block of University Avenue died of a respiratory ailment Sunday at Mercy Medical Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at All Saints Catholic Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Sokolik was born in Lakefield, MN, and had lived in Fort Madison before moving to Des Moines in 1943. He was a clerk with the U.S. Postal Service before retiring and was a member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Dowling Club, AARP and Our Ladies Rosary Makers. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed making rosaries. He is survived by his wife, Mary L; a daughter, Diane Sokolik of Des Moines; a sister, Martha Misener of Brainerd, MN; and a brother, Jerome of Fort Madison. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to his church.
