The Life of ERNAL WILLIAM LEMONS

Bill Lemons, 82, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House after a brief illness.  A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at Altoona United Methodist Church with private burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery prior to the service.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m. with the family present from 5-8 p.m. at Hamilton's Altoona Funeral Home.

Bill was born November 27, 1923 in Lineville, MO.  After graduating from Lineville High School, he served in World War II and then worked at Pittsburgh Des Moines Steel for 32 years.  Bill was an active member of Altoona United Methodist Church.  He lived in the present and enjoyed learning new things.  His hobbies included baking, gardening, woodworking, reading and using the computer.

Bill is survived by his wife of 59 1/2 years, Wilma; son, Jerry (Dolores) Lemons; daughter, Kyla (Doug) Burgett; grandchildren, Brenda, Bill, Lisa and Michael; great-grandchildren, Anna, Emily, Laura, Alex and John; brother Wayne; sisters, Maxine, Elaine, Ethel and Gwendolyn; and a host of other family and beloved friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Altoona United Methodist Church or Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House.
