The Life of LEONARD DEAN SCHLAHT
Leonard Dean Schlaht, 77, of 3103 Wright St. died of a heart ailment Friday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Schlaht was born in Fairfax, SD and had lived in Des Moines for 51 years. He was a retired maintenance worker with Metropolitan Transit Authority and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; a daughter, Carolyn Hughes of Chandler, AZ; three sons, Don, of Des Moines, Ron of Rockford, IL, and Larry of Chandler, AZ; three sisters, Laverne Cox of Des Moines; Margaret Schlaht of Winner, SD, and Mary Steinke of Colome, SD; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association.
