The Life of ERNEST G SKOOG

Ernest G. Skoog, 65, of the 300 block of Caulder Avenue died of cancer Wednesday at Hospice Kavanagh House.  The body was cremated, and the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Jordan United Methodist Church, of which he was a member.  Burial of the cremains will be at a later date.

Mr. Skoog was born in Spring Hill and had lived in Des Moines all his life.  He was a retired entrepreneur and local business owner, a Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of New Pioneer Gun Club in Waukee.  He enjoyed building custom cars and skeet shooting.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; two daughters, Jody Marie Curtis and Kimbra Mae Valenti, both of Des Moines; a son, Chet Loran Skoog of Dexter; two brothers, Dale Cowden and Gary Skoog, both of Des Moines; four grandchilden; and a great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to his church or Hospice Kavanagh House.  Caldwell-Raddatz Funeral Home and Crematory is handling arrangements.
