The Life of MERLE SAMUEL SCRIBNER

Merle "Sam" Scribner, 87, of the 4200 block of Hickman Road died of a heart ailment Saturday at Calvin Community. The body was cremated, and services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Norwalk United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Scribner was born in Ceylon, MN, and had lived in Des Moines and Apache Junction, AZ. He was a retired sales manager for Hummell''s Nissan. He was a member of Acanthus Masonic Lodge, Acanthus Order of the Eastern Star and the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine. He enjoyed cars. He is survived by two daughters, JoAnn Davis Hellyer of West Des Moines and Jane Braswell of Norwalk; a brother; three sisters; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavohn. Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvin Community Good Samaritan Fund. Brooks Funeral Care - University Chapel is handling arrangments.
