The Life of JACK E BERGSTROM

Jack E. Bergstrom, 62, of Placentia, CA, formerly of Des Moines, died of leukemia Monday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.  He was a west regional transportation mechanic for Amtrak.  A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Merle Hay Mortuary.  The body will be cremated.  Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Bergstrom was born in Des Moines.  He was a member of the Lutheran Church and was an Air Force veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Esther L; two daughters, Judith Mae Darling of Des Moines, and Deborah Gayle Acree of Placentia; a son, Jack E., Jr. of Placentia; two brothers,Robert of Chatfield, MN and Gene of Spokane, WA; five sisters, Marjorie Iverson of Des Moines, Lorraine Powers of Omaha, NE, Pat Hurt of Battle Creek, MI, Harriet McCollum of Denver, CO, and Barbara Hickman of Aurora, CO; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to the City of Hope in Duarte, CA.
