The Life of JOHN W NIXON
John W. Nixon, Sr., 71, of 2815 E. Grand Ave. died Saturday in Iowa Lutheran Hospital of emphysema after an illness of of 10 years. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton''s Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens.
Born in Runnells, Mr. Nixon was a resident of Des Moines 60 years and worked for 12 years as a driver for Yellow Cab Co. retiring in 1965. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local No 90 and served in the US Army in France during World War I. He belonged to Simpson Methodist Church.
Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Margaretha Trotter of Des Moines, a son, John W. Nixon, Jr. of San Martine, CA; a brother, Edward Nixon of Des Moines, five grandchildren and a great-grandson.
