The Life of DONALD LEE BALLARD

Donald Lee Ballard, 77, of 2800 Des Moines St. died of cancer Tuesday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.  Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Hamilton''s Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Ballard was born in Story City and lived in Des Moines most of his life, retiring from Ruan Transportation.  He served in the Army and was a member of Eastgate Masonic Lodge and Teamsters.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; four sons, Dennis of Ankeny, Clifford of Elizabethtown, KY, Fred of Johnston and Leonard of Cumming; five daughters, Betty Danley, Connie Ballard, Phyllis Hastie, Karen Ballard and Marjorie Burgess, all of Des Moines; three sisters, Inez Massure of Redfield, Maxine Deer of Pleasant Hill and Merna Ulm of Fairfield; 24 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Sunnyside.
