The Life of DORAN REED

Doran Reed of 4715 NE 27th Court died of a pancreatic ailment Monday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center.  He was 75.  Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hamilton's Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Reed was born in Swan and lvied in Des Moines most of his life.  He worked for 32 years at Firestone Tire and Rubber Co., retiring from the final inspection division, and was a past president of the United Rubber Workers union.

Surviving are his wife, Jane; three sons, Jim, Doran and Bill, all of Des Moines; five daughters, Barbara Kappelman of West Hills, CA, Connie Nading of Ankeny and Betty Hood, Mary Swinehart and Jan Shannon, all of Des Moines; four brothers, Paul of Des Moines, Gerald of Kimberling, MO, and Keith and Chuck, both of Boone; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
