The Life of DOLORES C MYATT

Dolores C. Myatt Dolores C. Myatt, 89, passed away April 11, 2021 at Berkshire Center. We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to Angela Golowski for the loving care she provided to our parents over the last few years. Dolores was the loving wife of the late Alfred J. Myatt Jr. for 62 years. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Stella (Julian) Caltagirone. Dolores was a 1949 graduate of Reading Catholic High School and a 1953 graduate of Kutztown University. She also attended Penn State University for graduate classes and later earned her Reading Specialist certification. She spent 30 years as an educator in the Reading School District, retiring in 1988, and was a mentor to many young teachers. Teaching children was one of her passions in life, and she was always loved and remembered by her students. Her commitment to education also led her to open a retail store, which provided much needed classroom resources to her fellow educators. Dolores was involved with the Sons of Italy, South Berks - Retired Teachers, 1500 Club, LaSalle Tuition Review Committee, Prime Timers, and Reading Catholic Reunion Committee, and she also served as the former president of the Junior Catholic Women’s Club. She was a faithful member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, Shillington. Dolores was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by two children, Kathleen M. (Allen) Kardoley, Exeter Township, and Jonathan J., Shillington; three granddaughters: Amanda (Andrew) Higgins, Emily and Kristen Kardoley; and two great-grandsons, Liam and Landon Higgins. She is also survived by five siblings: Anthony (Marjorie) Caltagirone, Exeter Township, Thomas R. Caltagirone, Reading, Joseph (Sharon) Caltagirone, Robesonia, James (Patricia) Caltagirone, Wyomissing, and Patricia (Joseph) O’Brien, West Lawn, and many nieces and nephews. Dolores was predeceased by six siblings: Samuel (Eleanor) Caltagirone, Rose Caltagirone, Josephine Caltagirone, Raymond (Veronica) Caltagirone, Franklin (Marilyn) Caltagirone, and John Caltagirone. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at St. John Baptist de la Salle R.C. Church, 42 Kerrick Rd, Shillington, PA 19607 with burial to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. Family and friends may call Friday, April 16, 2021, from 6 to 8 P.M. at Edward J.
