The Life of STELLA M. BLATT

Stella M. Blatt, 97, Spring Township and formerly of Reading, passed away Nov. 23, 2009, at 9:55 p.m. in ManorCare Health Services in West Reading, where she resided for one month. She was the wife of Frank P. Blatt, who passed away Jan. 1, 1993. Born in Reading on June 22, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Magdalena (Weiss) Faller. Stella was a bass player and the leader of her band, Stella's Trio, for 37 years, retiring in 1972. She was an avid bowler and crocheted and made quilts for many different missions. Surviving are a daughter, Dolores Joan (Blatt) Kauffman, with whom she last resided; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a stepsister, Gloria Mizdial of Lansdale. She was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia A. Schaedler. Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Bean Funeral Home, North 16th and Rockland streets, Hampden Heights, with the Rev. Robert E. Hinson officiating. Interment in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home Monday from 9 to 10 a.m.
