The Life of Theodore R. Sr. Coleman

Theodore R. Coleman- a 78 year old resident of Derby, entered into eternal rest on March 9. He was born March 23, 1932 in Ansonia, son of the late James & Rachel Coleman. Theodore “Ted” Coleman was a veteran of the Marine Corp. and U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean War. He was the former owner of “Teddy’s Den” Café in Waterbury. He also served as the executive director of the Ansonia Housing Authority until 1989 and worked as a bail bondsman. He was a former member of The James H. Wilkins Masonic Lodge #9 of Ansonia. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Myra Edwards of Hamden, two sons Theodore Coleman Jr. of Derby & Mark Kaliss of Manhattan, N.Y., his brother Julius Coleman of Maryland, his sister Rachel Douglas of Waterbury, his former wife Irma Coleman of Derby and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by five brothers & one sister. Funeral services will be held on Monday, 11:00 a.m. from The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia (www.jenkinskingfh.com) with the Rev. Samuel Levey officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.
