The Life of Jerry J. Pertoso

PERTOSO Jerry J. Pertoso, age 76, husband of Trudy Kichar Pertoso and resident of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest March 3, 2011. He was born March 23, 1934 in Ansonia, son of the late Joseph Pertoso and Providenza DiLiberto Pertoso. Jerry was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, and was a member of the V.F.W and Disabled American Veterans. He attended the University of Bridgeport. He was the owner and operator of Jerry's Driving School of Ansonia for 42 years. He had also worked for Sikorsky Aircraft and had formerly served as an Ansonia Supernumerary Policeman. He was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia, and was a member of the Holy Rosary Church men's club and a Third Degree Knight of Columbus. He also volunteered as a basketball coach for Ansonia youth and the Assumption School. In addition to his wife Trudy, he leaves three sons, Gerald J. Pertoso and his wife Beth of Beacon Falls, James A. Pertoso and his wife Sharon of Shelton and John T. Pertoso of Ansonia, one daughter Janice Pertoso of Stamford, brother Peter S. Pertoso of Madison, eight grandchildren, Gerald, Jamie, Sarah, Thomas, Michael, John and Matthew Pertoso and Ben Berlingo. He was predeceased by one brother Joseph A. Pertoso. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with friends asked to go directly to Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Burial with military honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Friends may call on Monday, 3 to 8 p.m. from The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin Street, Ansonia.
