The Life of Madeline E. Ross

MADELINE  E.  ROSS

Madeline E. Ross, age 91 of Drexel Hill, passed peacefully Thursday, August 24, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Madeline was the only child of the late Stanley S. and Madeline (nee Dugent) Measda. She was a graduate of West Catholic High School, Class of 1949. On June 7, 1952 she married her beloved Bill, and they would eventually move their family to their forever home in Drexel Hill, where she has resided for the last 60 years. Madeline was a longtime member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Drexel Hill. She was retired from Montrose Cemetery, where she was a longtime administrative assistant; and had previously worked for many years alongside her husband at Hughes and Duffy Piano Movers.

Madeline was a wonderful homemaker; she was also a beautiful singer, and could often be found singing as she moved around her home or while baking her fabulous cheesecakes, breads and bread pudding. She was a talented seamstress who enjoyed making sentimental pieces for her children and grandchildren, for their weddings and Holy Communions; and the occasional tutu for dance school. In her leisure, she enjoyed following her family and friends on Facebook, sending emails, and making funny GIFs and JibJabs to send. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, William A. Ross.

She is survived by her children, Dauna A. (George) Paquier, Audrey M. (John) Ralston, Kimberly L. (Godofredo) Aguilar and William S. Ross (Kelly McCaffrey). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Stephanie (Marc), Laurann, Beth (Don), John, Phillip, Christian, Gabrielle (Zachary), Alexandra, Jadyn, Steven, Weston; and 7 great-grandchildren, Marciella, Madison, Mia, Owen, Emersyn, Haley and Colton; and many dear cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Services Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 3500 School Ln, Drexel Hill, PA 19026. There will be a viewing 10-11am in Church and Mass will begin at 11am. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery.
