The Life of ROSE M. CALTAGIRONE

  
 
Rose M. Caltagirone, 92, passed away January 2, 2021, at Reading Hospital. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Stella (Julian) Caltagirone. She was a graduate of St. Peter's Catholic High School in 1946 and attended McCann School of Business, the American Institute of Banking, and Albright College. Rose was a lifelong member of Holy Rosary RCC, Reading. She worked as a corporate trust officer at American Bank, Meridian Bank, Core States Bank and retired from Wachovia Bank for a total of 43 years until her retirement in February of 1990. Rose was the Chairwoman of Recreation for Reading Model Cities, was one of the founders of Prince Historic District (South of Penn St. District, Cherry to 6th Streets), served on the committee of the 1st, 4th, and 5th Wards in the City of Reading, she ran retirement dinners for the Quarter Century Club for Berks County Trust where she was also past president vice president, secretary, and treasurer for the Quarter Century Club, and was a board member of the Reading Public Library for 20 years. She also was a board member of the Sons of Italy, Reading. She is survived by six siblings: Anthony (Marjorie), Exeter Twp.; Dolores M., widow of Alfred Myatt, Shillington; Rep. Thomas R., Reading; Joseph (Sharon), Robesonia; James B. (Patricia), Wyomissing; and Patricia D., wife of Joseph D. O'Brien, Lincoln Park. Rose was the legal guardian and mother figure of niece, Tiffany Caltagirone and nephews, Julian, and Joshua Caltagirone; she cared for Julian's son Cyris as if he were her own grandson. Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephew also survive her. Rose was predeceased by five siblings: Samuel, Raymond, John, Josephine, and Franklin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 8, 2021, at 11:15 a.m. at Holy Rosary R.C. Church 237 Franklin St. Reading, PA 19602. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11:15 a.m. at the church . Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Church at the above address.
