The Life of MARY LOUISE PICHINI

Marylouise Pichini, 89 of Spring Township left us peacefully on January 5, 2023. Affectionately known as "Nannylou", she is terribly missed by her surviving sons Mike and Andy, their loving wives Erin and Donna and her devoted granddaughters Ava and Anna â€" who for them she will forever be their Nannylou. Born in Reading at St. Joseph's hospital, she was the daughter of the late Mary (Palange) and Mike Martino. Raised on Cotton Street, Nannylou attended Central Catholic Highschool and the then Kutztown State Teachers College. Her lifelong passion was teaching. Whether in the classroom at Overbrook, Cabrini Academy, St. Ignatius Loyola - or holding court in her living room - she was always "on" and always teaching. Whether by example or words, her life was a lesson that could not be ignored. Married in 1962 to Anthony J. Pichini, DDS, who predeceased her in 2016, she was devoted to him, their two boys, their extended family, and the Italian American community at Holy Rosary Parish. She was selfless to a fault, quick witted and sharp with her humor, and â€" like her father Mike Martino - always ready to tell you how you should have done it! She enjoyed reading, crocheting, baking, and her daily crossword puzzles. The rhythms of her life revolved around her church, her family, and her true calling - to teach. She leaves a gaping hole in the lives of those she touched, and her memory will forever be a blessing. One hundred years from now it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like. But the world may be a little better because I was important in the life of a child. Thank you, Mom, you were important in the lives of so very many of us. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Marylouise's memory to a Catholic School or Education Program of one's choice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 2600 St Albans Dr, Reading, PA, with burial to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. A viewing will be held Thursday, January 12, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church. Condolences may be expressed at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
