The Life of Quincy Thomas Jones

In Memory of Quincy Thomas Jones
Born: May 10, 1929
Died: May 26, 2023

Quincy Thomas Jones of Radnor, Pennsylvania and Stone Harbor, New Jersey passed away on May 26, 2023 after a long and fruitful life.  The cause was heart failure.
Born in Conshohocken on May 10, 1929 Quincy was the son of J. Malcolm Jones Jr. and Nancy Thomas Jones.  His family roots in the area go back to the 1700s, including a strong connection with the Quaker Society of Friends.
Quincy attended Plymouth Meeting Friends School, and in 1948 graduated from Lower Merion High School.  Subsequently he took a position at Garrett-Buchanan Paper Company where he built a distinguished career, starting in the stock room and eventually retiring as Senior Vice President.  In 1952-53 Quincy served in the Infantry in Korea, rising to the rank of first lieutenant.
Quincy met Eleanor (Nori) Formigli at the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor in the summer of 1954.  They were married in 1955 and went on to have identical twin daughters Donna and Paula.  Nori and Quincy were married 68 years.  Quincy was an incredibly devoted father and husband.
Quincy was an avid boater on his beloved Norquin and a long-time member of the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor. He also loved skiing.  Nori and Quincy spent many winters skiing at Camelback in the Poconos and also skied in to their 80’s at Crested Butte in Colorado, where Quincy often sported his one-piece bright yellow ski suit.
In his retirement he took up golf and spent time researching his family roots.  His forbears fought in the American Revolution and survived the winter at Valley Forge, and he joined the Sons of the American Revolution.
Quincy was also an amazing dancer.  Always the first to hit the dance floor, often in black tie, he was known for his light footwork and improvisational style. More than anything, Quincy will be missed for his incredible sense of humor.  He could hold an entire room in thrall laughing at one of his funny stories, usually recounting an experience of his through the lens of the absurd and laughable aspects of life.  In addition, he was a master of the one-liner.  His twinkling blue eyes and ready quip or bon mot were treasured by friends and family alike.  All his life he used humor to leaven everyday situations.
Quincy’s memory will be loved and cherished by his friends and family.  He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nori F. Jones, his daughters Paula Jones Hansen and Donna Jones Collins (Arthur), grandchildren Morgan Edmunds (Phil), Kathleen Collins, Hillary Collins (Bill), Patrick Collins and two great-grandchildren Ellie and Jamie Edmunds.
Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 1st at the Chapel of Peace at Laurel Hill West, 225 Belmont Avenue, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
