The Life of Mr Jerry L. Boyd

Jerry L. Boyd of Dover, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 9, 2023 at the age of 76. Jerry was born to George and Lura (Spangler) Boyd on March 7, 1947 in Shiloh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from West York Area High School in 1965 and played baseball for their team. He attended Penn State York and studied mechanical engineering until he joined the Army in 1968. He was a proud Veteran who served in the Vietnam War. He was employed as a HVAC mechanic throughout his life.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 45 years Karen (Knaub) Boyd; daughter Megan Boyd Dehoff and her husband, Chad; daughter Erin (Boyd) Henry and husband, Mathew; and a brother, Raymond Boyd. He also leaves behind his two grandsons, sister-in-law Nancy Kohler, brother-in-law David Knaub, along with several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Loie, and brother John. Throughout his life, Jerry and Karen had several pets that they adored.

With a sense of humor and a big smile, Jerry lived his life helping others. He enjoyed being a spectator at his daughters’ and grandsons’ sporting events; as well as, cheering on his two favorite teams, the York Revolution and the Philadelphia Eagles. His favorite activities included playing golf and traveling. He was a member of the Shiloh Legion and the American Legion.

In honor of Jerry, a celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 2:00pm with a memorial service to follow at 3:00pm for all family and friends who wish to attend. The celebration will be held at LCBC York located at 951 N. Hills Rd, York, PA 17402. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, or a local Veterans’ Organization in honor of Jerry. His family will have a private burial.
