The Life of THOMAS J. SNUKIS
It is with deep sadness that the family of Thomas Joseph Snukis, 85, of Muhlenberg Township, announces his
sudden passing on September 20, 2017.
He was the husband of Nina Rose (Brahler) Snukis, to whom he was married June 16, 1957.
Born August 22, 1932 in New
Philadelphia, Schuylkill County, he was a son of the late Charles and Mary (Ambrovage) Snukis.
Thomas was a 1950 graduate of Blythe Township High School and attended
Lebanon Valley College.
He was employed as a lab technician engineer and lastly, in management, with Dana Corporation for 46 years,
retiring in 1998.
Thomas was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park.
A sports enthusiast, he loved watching the Phillies and Eagles. He was also a coach in his younger years for the Mighty Mites at MTAA.
Thomas was an avid woodworker and loved to read. He also enjoyed traveling with his family.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his two sons, Col. Thomas J., husband of Rosemary V. Snukis, U.S. Army
(Retired), of Chesapeake, Va. and David Scott Snukis, of Muhlenberg Township.
Also surviving are his two grandchildren, Capt. Thomas J. Snukis, U.S. Army, Ft. Bragg, N.C. and Courtney R.
Snukis, a student at Virginia Tech.
Other survivors include his sister, Rosemarie, wife of Martin Donohue, of Pottsville; his sisters-in-law, Priscilla Alderfer, of Emmaus, and Lucy Snukis, of New
Thomas was predeceased by his son, Jay M. Snukis, who died March 20, 2006; and his brother, Charles "Bud" Snukis who died January 1, 2017.
Viewings will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 at Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale and Monday morning from 9-10 at Holy Guardian Angels Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at the church. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Chapel of St. George, Muhlenberg Township.
