The Life of Ernest W Moyer

Ernest W. Moyer, 80, of Long Run Road, Friedensburg, passed away Thursday at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street, Pottsville.

Born in Pine Grove, May 18, 1928, he was a son of the late William D. and Sadie Miller Moyer.

Ernest had been employed at and retired from the Hamburg Fairmont Foundry.

He was a social member of the Summit Station and Friedensburg fire companies.

His hobbies were gardening, farming, puzzle books and his grandchildren. His grandchildren called him "Quarter Pappy." He and his wife of 60 years, Annie D. Fenstermacher Moyer, enjoyed traveling with R&J Tours on various bus adventures that took them throughout the states.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four sons, John Moyer, Cressona, Daniel, husband of Emily Moyer, Cressona, David, husband of Donna Moyer, Pine Grove, and Kenneth, husband of Cathy Moyer, Valley View; two daughters, Betty, wife of Lewis Behney, Pine Grove, and Christine Shaffer, Oakdale; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Charles Moyer, Jonestown, and Mervin Moyer and Oscar Moyer, both of Pine Grove; two sisters, Marcella Fredericks, Shillington, and Ruth Beuchler, Pine Grove.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Baker; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Moyer; three brothers, Carl F. Moyer, Marlin Moyer, Earl Moyer, and three sisters, Alberta Baver, Lurda Atticks and Shirley Nye.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall, 2653 Wood Glen Road, Pottsville, with Elder Craig Jordan officiating.

H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, is in charge of arrangements.
