The Life of Marie Yola Huckaby

Opelousas– A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Yola Huckaby on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Landry Catholic Church of Opelousas. Visitation will be held in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. the rosary will be recited at 1:00 p.m. by Deacon Sammy Diesi in the funeral home chapel. Fr. Neil Pettit will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will take place in the Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Yola, a resident of Opelousas, entered into eternal rest at the age 90, on Sunday, January 8, 2023, in Keller Texas, surrounded by her loving family. Yola loved going to church, travel when able, reading, spending time with her grandchildren, she was a member of the Opelousas Rosary Group and also was a member of the Red Hatters’ Group, she enjoyed having family over for events, she was Master Merchant of Maison Blanche three times.

Yola is survived by her sons, Thomas Huckaby, Jr, and wife, Jennifer of Krotz Springs, and David Huckaby, and wife, Denise of Krotz Springs, daughters, Patricia Pavlovich and husband, Keith of Baton Rouge, and Linda Pefferkorn and husband, Dale of Keller, Texas, twenty grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren.

Yola is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Huckaby, Sr. her parents, Clement and Yola Deville Carriere, Sr., brothers, Russell Carrier, and Clement Jr., “Nookie” Carrier, sisters, Mary Cryer, Bernice Walkoviak, and Francis Noel.

 Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.
