The Life of Mrs. Judy L. Sechler

Judy L. (Acker) Sechler, 81, of Woodside Avenue, Mertztown, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, in her residence.  She was the wife of Larry D. Sechler, whom she married on October 10, 1964.

Born on June 13, 1941 in Allentown, Judy was the daughter of the late Carl R. Acker and the late Jean L. (Weil) Acker. A 1959 graduate of Brandywine Heights High School, Topton, Judy was employed as a receptionist at the office of Dr. William O. Muehlhauser, Topton, for 14 years, and then for Topton Family Practice, for nine years until her retirement. Prior to that, Judy worked at the former Caloric Corporation, Topton, in their dispensary, for four years.

She was a former member of the Berks County and Kutztown Area Democratic Clubs, and a former committee woman in Longswamp Township.  She was a former member of the Longswamp Township Environmental Advisory Council, Parks and Recreation Committee, the Township Historical Society, and was co-chair of the 250th Anniversary Event for the township.  Judy was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Topton, and throughout the years was very active with kid's time, vacation Bible school, senior choir, and record keeping. She loved working in her flower beds, decorating her home, and watching the hummingbirds in her backyard. Judy was known for her cooking, especially the baking of her famous Christmas cookies that she gave away. She also made gifts at Christmas for her family and friends. Judy always gave 110% in whatever she was involved in.

In addition to her husband of 58 years, Larry, Judy is survived by a daughter, Jan L. Sechler, wife of Stuart Emanuel, Doylestown, PA, a brother, Richard, husband of Beverly Acker, Reading, and a very special family, Paula and Michael Shea, and their daughter Sarah Margaret, who have brought so much joy to her life. She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Susan (Acker) Spayd.
