The Life of Earl John Broussard

CARENCRO ~ Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at an 11:00 a.m. Liturgy of the Word in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Earl Broussard, age 75, who passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022 at the Calcutta House in Lafayette.

 

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park in Lafayette. Deacon David Menard will officiate at the services.

 

Mr. Broussard was a native and lifelong resident of Carencro. Earl started his working career with Lafayette Distributors for over twenty-five years, later working for American Glass and Mirrors. He retired with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Department after 13 ½ years and went on to share his love of race horses working for Evangeline Downs Racetrack in Opelousas as the Louisiana State Commissioner ultimately retiring in 2016 around the same time as his wife. Together, they spent their time at the camp in Toledo Bend. Earl enjoyed fishing and playing Texas Hold ‘Em.

 

Survivors include his wife, Cindy LeBlanc Broussard; one daughter, Terrirae Broussard; his siblings, Merlin Broussard (Jeanette), Bobby Broussard (Barbara), Francis Broussard, Carlton Broussard (Brenda), Gerri Dugas (Wilson, Jr.), and Lisa Venable (Kenneth).

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin Broussard and the former Anna Babineaux; and two sisters, Barbara Blanchard and Linda Broussard.

 

A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

 

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Tuesday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.

 

Pallbearers will be Kenny Venable, Buddy Dugas, Bryant Broussard, Cory Dugas, Tyler Cormier, and Brett LeBlanc.
