The Life of Kathleen Ann Young

Kathleen (Kathy) Ann Young, 65, of Spring Hill, KS, passed away on December 6, 2022, after a lengthy battle with neurological and other health related issues.

Kathy was born on May 25th, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, to Henry and Patricia Killian. She grew up in the Chicago area and graduated from high school in Mt. Prospect, IL.

After graduation, Kathy worked as an executive secretary at Hartford Insurance Company in Chicago, where she met her future husband Mike Young. They married in 1983 and welcomed their daughter Molly.

In 1989, Mike’s job moved them to Louisville, KY. There, Kathy was a stay-at-home mom and enjoyed volunteering at the elementary school, meeting several “school friends” which would later become the name of her crafting business. Kathy and Mike moved to Olathe, KS, in 1995 where they raised Molly and resided until moving to Spring Hill in 2019.

Kathy knew every excellent restaurant in town because she did not like cooking at all. She enjoyed crafting, cheering on the K-State Wildcats, boating at Clinton Lake with family, her Australian shepherd dogs, family vacations to Florida and Alabama, and spending time with her two grandchildren, Nora and Charlie, who were always making her laugh.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Mike, their daughter Molly (husband Aaron Romer), Olathe, KS, and Grandchildren, Nora and Charlie Romer.
